Meet MATTHEW

Matthew grew up surrounded by race cars. His father, Tim Butson, has been involved in regional and national SCCA racing for the past two decades. Needless to say, Matthew had a very early introduction to racing. After years of waiting to get behind the wheel, at sixteen he completed his drivers school at ProDrive in Portland and was granted his SCCA competition license. From there, he began racing with the ProDrive team in an SRF3, learning how to go fast in a momentum based car while also experiencing wheel to wheel competition in one of the biggest classes in all of SCCA.

His learning and development over the past few years has enabled him the opportunity to find speed in his #24 Ave Motorsports Ford Mustang competing in the Trans-Am Series Championship presented by Pirelli, as well as his #24 K-Hill Motorsports Formula Atlantic competing in the Formula Race Promotions Atlantic Championship.

Matthew recently finished his undergraduate studies at Robert Morris University, where he completed his bachelors in Business Management and Marketing. He is now a graduate student at the University of Denver, pursuing a Masters degree
